"Well you wish upon a star
that turns into a plane
and I guess that's right on par
who's left to blame..."
Ah yes, the holiday of romance, love , cheesy sayings, silly gifts and all that sappy sweet stuff is upon us. Valentines Day is less than a week away. Some look at it as a holiday merely made up for the greeting card business, others as an excuse to make up for past transgresions some just wanna rekindle the flame which may be fickering a bit these days. Yet, many like myself are single on valentines day, we have no valentine to speak of. And that's just fine. There is no point in getting all depressed because the calender says you have to have someone on this specific day. Sure, there are lots of couples only specials going on, but so what. Who says you cant have some fun anywho? If you have some friends who are single too, go out together and have a good time. Heck, do the couples special things most places will be smart enough not to question it. Do something special for yourself, go buy that thing you've been wanting to get. Spoil yourself a bit. Just dont wallow in self pitty just because someone didnt send you a card or flowers. Dont be afraid to take yourself out to dinner, there's no law that says singles people must stay home on valentines day. Heck, lets celebrate the fact that we have our freedom and that this day is as much for us as it for those in love. Dont fear thefact that your dining alone on Feb 14th, you arent the only person doing so. There are a lot of us single folk in the world, and no we dont spend our days with our heads hung low in the shame of not having a date on valentines day.
As for the couples, remember it's supposed to be about who you are with as much as what you do, actually moreso. Do something that takes him or her back to when you first met or something. Do something fun. Share some ice cream, rent a movie that you saw on one of your first dates and do some take out and a bottle of wine at home. You dont really have to go big, because fun/sweet is often the best idea. Do the dinner and a movie like you used to do. Go to a comedy club or show. Think about something that made them happy before and make it happen again. Just remember, this day is for anyone and everyone who wants to celebrate it. For those who dont, then dont. It's over pretty quick then you can hold off on celebrating til the 18th (chinese new year)
Just think, soon enough it'll be St Paticks Day

Greg ,dont you feel a little bit strange taking your self out for dinner?? I hate eating alone, which I have done several times when away on buisness but feel horribly self concious.
Now the Whole Valentines thing is a bit naff really, I alway feel a bit of spontinaity (sp) through out the year works better.

This isnt really a "love song" per se, but it's a song that most valentines should be able to identify with (as far as the lyrics go)

It really comes down to a matter of trust, now doesnt it
